Case study: Redhat Directory Service implementation for CCMB

Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology implemented Mithi Mail server several years ago. Over the years, users created in Mithi have also been used for internet authentication. Going forward, CCMB foresees other applications to authenticate users.

Hence, it has been envisaged to have a separate Directory Server (LDAP Server) to facilitate single-sign on for disparate applications.

Callippus was entrusted with the task of installing Red Hat Directory Servers in a cluster with Active-Active configuration and subsequently migrate all of the user data from Mithi mail-server to RHDS.

Callippus has successfully completed the task as per CCMB's requirement. Callippus was also involved in cleansing the current user data as part of the migration process.

Callippus also provided a web-based tool for use by IT Admin staff to facilitate central user creation (in RHDS) and for the end-users to change their passwords.

CCMB has since migrated to RHDS with all users being authenticated from RHDS for both E-mail services as well as Internet access.
